…is happy.
While that might not seem like a big deal, when you learn Rob’s story you will learn that happiness did not always come easy for him.
In his book, “I’d Rather Kill Myself Than Be A Lawyer, How Anyone Can Find Happiness,” Rob recounts a struggle with anxiety and depression in his late 20s, brought on by a combination of genetics, helicopter parents and a really, really bad f*&king career choice.
That toxic combination resulted in Rob’s regrettable decision to take a thirty pill cocktail in his law office in 1995. That resulted in a stay at the luxurious NYU psyche ward in 1995.
The good news is that as a Type A personality, Rob bounced back quickly. Over the ensuing twenty-five years, Rob reinvented himself and built a successful career in financial services and financial planning. Rob also spent much of that time working on his his faulty internal wiring. This proved a nearly impossible task. Rob remained entirely stressed out, which covered up his happiness and brought out the worst of him: angry, loud and super insulting…. although in all fairness, often funny.
He and his high school sweetheart-turned wife Karin built a great life in the beautiful suburb of Westchester County, New York with their three great kids, Pam, Molly and George and a variety of dogs, most recently Walter and Reggie.
“I’d Rather Kill Myself Than Be A Lawyer” tells the story of why he ended up in the hospital, what he learned about being happy afterwards and how he finally figured out how to apply it… and to stop insulting people.
In his spare time, Rob is active local volunteer, amateur musician and mediocre softball player.
