The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Rob’s Thoughts:

The Power of Now is the only thing in my life I ever read multiple times, other than the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.  It speaks about being present each moment in a very insightful way. The Power of Now is a book that changed how I view life. At times it can be a bit difficult to power through but the message stayed with me.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff… and It’s All Small Stuff by Richard Carlson

Rob’s Thoughts:

At this point, I feel like everyone I know has read this book.  The title is almost the only thing you have to read.  It reinforces the notion that whatever happens, LIFE. GOES. ON., until it does not.  So chill out.

10% Happier by Dan Harris

Rob’s Thoughts:

10% Happier reinforced the importance of meditation because it was told from the vantage point of view of someone who initially doubted the effectiveness of meditation.  I am not skilled at meditation, so this serves as a relatable reminder to continue trying.

Chicken Soup for the Soul

Rob’s Thoughts:

Again, so many people have read this Chicken Soup for the Soul, mentioning it here basically is redundant. It was so popular that the book turned into a franchise of books. I can’t remember their names, but I think they have titles like something Alphabet Soup for Y0our Kidneys, Minestrone for your spleen and Clam Chowder for You Anus.  Kidding aside, it is filled with touching short stories that give you perspective> It is an easy, quick read.

The Art of Happiness by The Dalai Lama

Rob’s Thoughts:

This was one of the first books I read on the topic of happiness.  Told by the grand master of having his shit together, it provides a framework for how to think about life.
